Inherent in the idea of success is progressing toward mastery. If you never get off step 1, you will never achieve the levels of success you intend.
Starting off with the basics is a must, but as time passes, being successful demands that you move into higher and higher stages of development. Someone who can make a really, really good grilled cheese sandwich would not be considered a great chef. Mastering the basics is a must, but the basics should lead onward to more complex sets of skill.
